Filipino educators join Global Campaign for Education in South Africa


csefgloballearningeventpic2The hundred-strong network of Filipino educators, E-Net Philippines, joins five thousand other education coalitions from 100 countries in the 5th General Assembly of Global Campaign for Education (GCE) in Johannesburg, South Africa today.

Addie Unsi, E-Net Philippines national coordinator, said that he is honoured to represent the Filipino educators in the week-long global gathering where priorities and directions for education will be set.

“Education remains the most effective and powerful strategy to transform people, reverse the impact of previous disaster, and prevent conflicts like the Mamasapano Clash,” said Unsi who is a native of Maguindano.

Unsi will meetn South Africa with Kailash Satyarthi, GCE co-founder and joint winner of the 2014 Nobel Peace Prize. Satyarthi will speak on on education rights 2000-2030.
“We have to tell international partners and the leadership of Global Partnership for Education (GPE) that the Philippines needs the support from global actors to ensure education rights of all Filipinos,” said Unis.
